Adroit Insurance & Risk Charity Golf Day raise $112,000 for local community
It was another fantastic day at the 18th Adroit Insurance and Risk Charity Golf Day. The weather threw a few curve balls including a power outage, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the players.
180 players hit the course to battle it out for the prestigious Meatball Cup, with JP Flynn Building winning the day. Brad Johnson was the MC for the evening with Tom Butters from Buxton Real Estate auctioneering the fantastic array of auction items.
$112,000 was raised at the event, with $100,000 funding the Adroit Insurance and Risk capital grant and the balance going to Adroit’s Community partner, The Geelong Community Foundation.
The Adroit Insurance and Risk capital grant of $100 000 was awarded to Gateways Support Services to help fund the redevelopment of six units and one unit for emergency accommodation in Belmont.

Gateways Accommodation and Specialist Support Services Manager, Sean Justin says that when complete, the units at Edmill Court, Belmont, will offer affordable housing for people with autism and intellectual disability who have limited supported accommodation options.
“There are people who need support to develop the skills and confidence to fully participate in their community, but who are not eligible for the standard shared accommodation, and others whose complex behavioural difficulties limit their accommodation options,” Mr Justin says.
Mr Justin says Edmill also caters for young adults leaving out-of-home care by supporting their first experience of living independently with the safety of having others around.
“It creates a transitional living option for people who need to experience living on their own while developing skills to care for themselves, so that they can have the confidence to move on to fully independent living,” Mr Justin says.
