The Adroit Regional Business Survey provides valuable insight into the mindset of regional Victorian businesses and their outlook for FY 17/18

After a prosperous 2018, positive expectations remain strong with business owners feeling broadly confident about next year, though their expectations are tempered by regulation concerns.

“We conducted this survey because we’re passionate about learning more from our community in regional Victoria. We hope that by providing the full breadth of data for the community they will be able to gain valuable insights.” – Andrew Locke, Managing Director.

Key Findings

  • 46% of firms claim that revenues have increased YoY (35% claim they are the same); and 52% feel revenues will increase into FY19.
  • Over FY18 25% of firms say they have increased their number of staff (vs. 11% who decreased numbers) which is in line with the
    expectations of the previous year.
  • 48% of businesses are unsatisfied with the support from the Victorian Government (9% are satisfied, down from 14% in 2017).
  • The biggest barrier to growth is the prevalence of regulations (43%), market and economic conditions is also still an important issue (39%).
