Maryanne’s Mentorship Adventure
We have some exciting news to share, Maryanne Cleasby, Head of Business Improvement and IT in our Adroit head office is a volunteer mentor with Geelong Youth Engagement, youth resilience program.
The Geelong Kokoda Youth Program engages young people from every state secondary school and some of the private schools in the Geelong region and help them work through the challenges they are facing in their lives. These challenges could be drug abuse, alcohol abuse, suicidal tendencies, self-harming, and family violence amongst many others.
The program consists of a 16 week training schedule in preparation for walking the Kokoda track. The challenges the mentors and participants face lead to building resilience whilst creating supportive relationships with young people taking part in the program. The trek is taking place in early September.
The young people selected have had to undertake an intensive long year program, mentored in personal development, fitness, health, diet and most importantly, role modelling with stable and genuine support.
Maryanne has been participating in lots of physical training, including many You Yang’s walks, big stair climbs etc. As well as mentoring and training for the program, Maryanne and the Adroit team have also supported Geelong Youth Engagement through participating in Pie Drives, Trivia Nights, Raffle Tickets, and movie nights all to raise funds for the foundation.

Good on you Maryanne..our young people need all the help they can get, they are our future and I know just how important it is to have business support community initiatives. Here in Gippsland Adroit (formerly McNair Hurle insurance) have supported Variety the childrens charity through my Bash Car . And that has been since 1993…they are our longest serving business contributor and I am so damn proud of them. So thank you Adroit..your heart is in the community. Helen Hoppner..a client for a long long time.
